Final Reflection Post

My Final Thoughts!

I enjoyed this class probably better that I have ever enjoyed learning. This class I started out excited and throughout the class the excitement continued; mainly because it combined my two passions (Teaching Kids with Technology). I knew there was a lot of programs out there before the class, but as the class went on I realized that I didn't know as much as I thought. I know I had some struggles, but I really did earn something new every week. I am a “Google Girl” and use Google for a lot of things, but did not realize how far Google has come. I am happy that Google is so advanced and is trying to keep up with the demands of today’s growing society. I discovered so much with Google, and a lot of other technical devices, websites, apps, etc. Learning about Rubrics and websites to make them and keep track of students learning and progress.  What I gained in this class, the knowledge and relationships I know has impacted my life. Not only did I enjoy learning all these necessary websites, but I loved the relationship that Mrs. Coleman created between us students; or it might have been just the fact that we was a class of girls only! Either way learning with a group like this definitely gives me hope for the future of education and teachers, unfortunately not every teacher across America is going to be able to have Mrs. Coleman as a teacher, so maybe I’ll just set my standards for future teachers of Southwest Florida.

Blog L Chapter #12

Made by Wordle

For this being our last blog I just want to say that I have learned so much in this class. This last blog is about how Integrating Technology and Creating Change as Teacher Leaders can increase the success of students.

Some wonderful concepts of teachers and technology are:

Concept 1: Teaching other fellow teachers about the new technology so that you can make sure all teachers are up to date and can provide the best success for the students.

Concept 2: Though not everything has to be accessed with a technical device, it is best to ensure student success that everything can be accessed with a technical device. -0- Example is that instructions for a school project can be found on a sent home piece of paper, but also accessed on a website to engage the students in the project.

My Reflection: Some parents still might not understand how to access all these technical ways to engage their child’s school, so that will have to be presented like a typed letter; in fact some parents might not even have an email. In this world today we are so diverse that I am sure that I will come across a student with a family just like this and I will be prepared.

Concept 3:  Using technology the right way. Just giving a student the technical device might not work as-well as you think; in this globalization world today. If a student does come from a technical family than that student might be a bit more challenging when teaching something with technology as their fellow classmates. That is where you will come in and teach the students about their new technical device. Also you should make sure that the technical device that you have chosen to use contains a lot of knowledge in the subject that you are trying to teacher, so that is can be redeemed as a success.Using these blogs will help us a lot in our future teaching careers, and the success of our students.

Blog K Chapter #6

With this Chapter I made a Zoo book featuring Charlie the Giraffe. He and his friends needed help on there day of adventure to escape the zoo and come back. They ran into a lot of math problems that you had to solve to see what was the next adventure was.

I used Zooburst to create this story to help my first grade students learn math.
I think this is a cute tool to "Foster online learning with Educational Websites"
There are websites and apps for all grades.
Some other websites are: WebQuest, Platoni, and Scholastic.
1.     WebQuest is a websites that gives kids task, and tells them the process and tells them what there outcome could be. It can be used any grade from Elementary all the way to High School.

2.     Platoni and Scholastic allows students to go on a virtual field trip. In my class book it says students that go to school in New York went on a virtual field trip to Ellis Island.

3.     Another way to engage students to learn is by Skype Videoconferencing. I think that using this app is good for students to get together without it interfering too much with their schedules. It also could come in hand to talk with relatives that might live in a different state and the kid might have a chance to learn about that area from their relatives.

I know when I become a teacher I will be using all of this technology to Foster my students learning.
I remember when I took a few high school online classes from Florida-virtual School, and I also received my AA degree through University of Phoenix online. The class I excelled in had virtual labs and  a lot of visual things. I know I am a creative visual learner so when I was able to implement those things into my learning I did very well. I will make sure to do the same with my students !

Blog H Chapter #9

This week we are thinking about how to express creativity with multimedia technologies.
The 3 concepts that I would use is:
Using imaging projector or other graphs to further a discussion.
Using diagrams to promote good behavior and jeep them interested.
Having a presentation prepared for to teach different subjects to keep the students engaged and interested.

First concept: I could put sentences on the bored with a projector;
Sally are going to go with me and Marie to the party
Sally is going to go with me and Marie to the party.
Sally is going to go with Marie and I to the party.

Then I would ask my class which one was right? Then continue on a discussion so that we all can learn English and other subjects from each other.

Second concept: When my students behave badly as an overall class they will see the result at the end of each day. If they have more good days than bad I will reward them at the end of the month.
Similar to this.
Venn Diagram

Third concept: To prepare different presentations that can improve the engagement and interest of the kids.

Blog G Chapter #8

From the earliest way of engaging students through teaching with technology the advancements in each area should almost seem to interconnect together.
I remember when one of my teachers in my junior year in high school (2007) used the technology to take over the computers in front of us to teach us a skill. That to me was one of the earliest ways to interconnect technology with teaching. Also my whole class was on building a website; “oh how far technology has come since I took that class”.
I so glad to be learning what technology that I can use when I become and teacher. I know now that there are websites that you can use to build your own website. Websites like Wiki I believe will engage students to build communication skills, while learning the task(s) at hand through technology. I know that as a future teacher it is part of my job to learn all these different ways to help my students succeed.
I am also planning on starting out and teaching Kindergarten, so I do believe that they technology I will use will have a big impact on my students at such a young age. I hope that my whole class looks up to me, and I develop that individual relationship with each student in finding what technology best interest them, so that I can apply it more to their individual studies to ensure each student in my class strives.
I am still in the process of learning myself about what technologies I can use in my Kindergarten classroom that my students can communicate and collaborate while succeeding.
I remember growing up I had a “Hello Kitty” CD-ROM, and in that software “Hello Kitty” could teach you how to color, count, and play music. I didn't even realize at the time how much I was learning because it was so much fun.
Here is an Idea of linking technology is developing an early learning skill. Using bubbl.us

Blog F Chapter #10

Made by Wordle

I know that with-in my first year as a Teacher there will be a lot of different challenges. I will have to adapt and find my own teaching style, and different techniques to try to engage my students in the best possible learning experience. The Wordle up top describes how I think my first year as a new teach might go. I know that there will always be new technology to teach with, as well as different students to learn from it. I am very excited to promote learning success as a new teacher with all the technology advances of today.

I believe as I learn how each of my students work individually I will be able to capture the different ways I can use technology and strategies in my teachings with each student.

Like a student that might have trouble reading I can have them sit on a computer and play with a program that helps with their reading, and spelling.

For a student that might have trouble for math I can give them an tablet with interactive games, that might not just be shown on the tablet, but could be interactive for the whole class on a big screen.
Kids using ipads in Elementary School

I know that for each student that if I engage them in the area they struggle with and combine it with something they really like for them to learn, all they will be able to do is strive.

Blog Post E Chapter #7

I know that when I am a teacher there will a lot of problem solving my class will have to learn. I am so happy to be learning the Technology that will help them staying interested while studying these problems.
The websites mentioned in the 7.1 tools (Squeak Etoys, and Scratch) will be a great way to engage kids. I will probably have quiet a few Software system's to keep kids wanting to learn, to where my class will have nowhere to go, but up in every aspect of life.
Kahoot !
My First concept is a Math Quiz using Kahoot.

My Second concept is taking a Comic Bitstrip and telling my class how to make a Model of the Solar System.

Making a Puzzle Courtesy for the Map of America !
This Puzzle is to make kids think while having, fun learning about the country they live in, USA !
The book mentioned Google Earth,  actually used Google Earth yesterday for a college map quiz. There are so many technical things out there for kids, that can keep them entertained for hours of learning and problem solving. When I was little I used to play a memory game, my parents to this day will still say nobody was as good as I was at that game. Also throughout school I developed a liking for Mazes, I guess it was just a part of my developing mind.

Blog D Chapter #5

E-LEARNING
Concept #1 How hooked on Phonics is making a difference in early childhood development.

Concept #2 Edutopia I think is a different way of teaching in general. I know this class is about using technology to teach, but this website is really interesting to me because it shows different ways of engaging a child’s attention outside the classroom. It does have web-gaming suggestions that using a site that has interactive games can be affective. To me this website makes a child see that the world around them is their learning environment, not just the four walls of a classroom.

Digital Citizenship
Concept #3 this site is for all grades and kids it has videos made for kids on all different subjects. I really like this site because it can catch the interest for all the students and be able to teach them on some hard subjects.

Nicole Blog Post C Chapter #3

Concept #1
Using Computers to better study habits.

Concept #2
Using Educational Video's to help students learn. I cannot stand taking History, but in order to learn about my upcoming essay on WW1 I am watching videos.

Concept # 3
Using applications to enhance social learning. No matter where a child comes from all children has trouble feeling social outside their family. I think an app that they can use at any age to enhance their social skills and help them be more outgoing when it comes time for them to be in a classroom setting.

Teaching with Technology the "Wright" Way

Nicole Blog Post #B

I know when I become a teacher I will be able to really engage my students in learning with technology. I know when I first become a teacher I will have to find my own individual way of teaching, but I will learn as I use technology for every aspect of me and my students success.
In the following video the teacher really shows how she engages the students with technology and the results she has had.
Teaching with Technology the "Wright" Way

I know that for some teachers thinking about letting their students use technology in the classroom is unsettling. I believe that when they give the chance they will see the success that it brings to their studies. I know that some teachers want to have full control while still using the devices, but either way it will bring improvement. In this area I have a true story, when I was a Junior in high school I had a website building class. It was one of my favorite classes because I got to use computers. I also remember when he connected his computer with the rest of the classes to teach us something. The things that happened in that class meant a lot to me. It was what I considered doing at first before deciding to become a teacher.
In the following picture the teacher is just keeping a close eye on his students as they learn on their laptop computers.

I know today there is a lot of websites that is used for teaching. In our book it list applications for every subject. I am very happy from a future mom and teacher’s point of view to know that there are websites for very early learning development. I will be one to use these websites very frequently as a mom and teacher.
In the picture below is a chart to show the success that ABCmouse.com has.

Blog Post #A-Chapter 1

The first connection that I will address is using a Computer; rather it is a laptop or a desktop this technical device can be used to advance a child’s knowledge by assigning those websites to help them in every subject. Even for a child in Speech-Language Pathology a child could use a computer to advance their reading which does better their speech. Laptop computers are still being technically advanced; there will always be a reason for this device in the classroom to advance students learning.

The next connection that gets used in education today is Tablets. Tablets are miniature computers that use touch-screen controls and can access the internet through mobile network companies. Tablets are one of the best ways a child learns these days, they have them from that ages 2 years and up. With all the different kinds of tablets out there every child could start Elementary already knowing some things that is taught in that first year. Tablets are a great invention, and a great way for children to discover the world around them at the youngest ages possible. Just a short few decades ago we could not even imagine using a technical device until almost a teenager; now toddlers are using them. I am proud to become a teacher and use tablets as a resource for me and my students.

The last connection is smart phones and their use in the classrooms the way that a child can capture what he is taught and the way he can learn things right away with a small phones that can act like a big computer. Smart phones is an amazing way to solve the problem of children not learning everything they are suppose to because they are afraid of asking a question because of peers, or the teacher. Having the smart phone device close to a child can learn what they do not understand, and even can help them mentally understand what they was taught in school that day and be able to show there parents when they arrive home. Instead of every child worst fear; the question “So what did you learn in school today?”
